Dennis Taraporewala is a singer, songwriter, multi instrumentalist, a management graduate and businessman.
Dennis was all of six, when he began formal music instruction. He was playfully strumming the guitar that his older brother was learning on, and the delighted teacher recognized Dennis’ natural inclination and proclivity towards music and instrumentation and encouraged the young boy to take it up formally. Dennis’ talent for music is extraordinary, and soon he was also playing the piano, accordion and drums. By the time he was 13 years old, Dennis had started composing his own tunes, songs and melodies and had recorded a privately distributed album - Blackbirds.
Dennis spent considerable time in his younger years gaining mastery over his singing, performance and instrumentation
skills. He won a slew of music competitions and awards over a number of years; performed at the West End in London
at a tender age of 17 years and was also amongst 20 top singers globally at the famous international singing
contest held at Vina Del Mar in Chile.
A critically acclaimed theatre artist who has held starring roles in hit professional productions including Romeo and Juliet, The Dining Room, Night of the Worms, The Bird, and more. Dennis has integrated his music into several of these performances, at every prestigious Mumbai theatrical arena from NCPA and
Prithvi to Sophia Bhabha, St Andrews.
Dennis’ work has been featured in publications from Mid Day and Times of India to the Indian Express in acknowledgement of his unique talent. Today, Dennis plays 6 instruments including the harmonium and mrindungum. His innate proclivity towards the essential spirit has led to deeply inspired original compositions ranging from reflective hits like Up on the Mountain Side to his unique take on traditional Indian chants and wild guitar jams.
