A discussion and debate on ways and means for Pune to address the challenges facing the city’s public transportation and traffic situations. Nachiket Patwardhan and Jayoo Patwardhan share their thoughts on this and discuss possible solutions. Waltraut Ritter will discuss international examples of eco-mobility and role in improving urban life. This will be followed by an open discussion with the audience.
About Nachiket Patwardhan and Jayoo Patwardhan:
Nachiket & Jayoo graduated from Baroda and settled in Pune in 1971 to run a small studio and have executed various architecture and planning projects in Benares, Bangalore, Hoshangabad, Uttar Kashi, Nagpur, Indore, Hubli, Aurangabad and Dharamshala. Both pursue parallel careers in teaching, painting, design and independent cinema and have won numerous state and national awards for their work as directors and art directors.
About Waltraut Ritter:
Waltraut Ritter is a founding member of the New Club of Paris, an association of experts on intellectual capital of cities, regions, and nations. She has been engaged for over a decade in the emerging field of knowledge/creative cities, an emerging, trans-disciplinary field at the intersection of urban planning, sociology and spatial aspects of knowledge. Most recently, she has been active
in the Urban Innovations programme at the European Union Academic Programme in Hong Kong.
She enjoys a vantage point on Asia from her location in Sheung Wan, the emerging creative district in
Hong Kong and she has some keen observations on both Mysore and Pune as aspiring knowledge cities.
