Sharwari Tilloo | Work and Journey
Sharwari Tilloo | Installation artist
Sharwari Tilloo is an installation artist who lives and works in Bangalore, India. She has trained in art under Bal Wad, Nirmala Patwardhan and Angad Vohra in India, and under Ahmad Abu Bakr at LaSalle SIA College of the Arts in Singapore. She also holds a master’s degree in education from Harvard University, USA.
She works primarily with papier mache, an unconventional medium in contemporary art. Her goal is to overcome the challenge of people’s perception of viewing papier mache as a craft medium and to instead push it as a medium of contemporary art. To this end, she has been working on creating life size installation pieces with papier mache and other mixed media. She spent the last three years researching butterflies; their behavior and their biology, for the installation art series ‘Metamorphosed’. This is an ongoing series and she intends to continue her study on the artistic intersection of butterfly and
human behavior.
