Shruti Chauhan

Shruti Chauhan is a British Indian poet and performer based in Leicester. She has won slams internationally in Chicago and Mumbai, and has performed at Royal Albert Hall, the Royal Shakespeare Company, Southbank Centre, the Green Mill in Chicago, the US Embassy’s American Centre in New Delhi, and at poetry festivals and events across the UK.

In 2015 she toured Three the Hard Way – Part 2 nationally with Jean Binta Breeze MBE and Lydia Towsey. She is an MGCfutures bursary recipient and one of 200 British BAME writers featured in Speaking Volumes’ Breaking Grounds publication. Shruti was voted Best Spoken Word Performer at the 2018 Saboteur Awards. She won the National Poetry Library’s Instapoetry competition the same year, and her work was exhibited at Southbank.

Shruti wrote the song lyrics for the BBC Four documentary, My Asian Family – The Musical as part of the BBC’s Big British Asian Summer season. Her pamphlet, That Which Can Be Heard, is published with Burning Eye Books.
